ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Imran Khan’s principal secretary Azam Khan’s statement recorded in the court in the £190 million scam case has come to light, Geo News reported.
Azam Khan recorded his statement on July 13 before Judge Muhammad Ali Warraich of the Accountability Court. On July 20, defence lawyers would cross-examine the statement of Azam Khan. In his statement, Azam Khan said that the matter related to 190 million pounds was presented in the cabinet. Former prime minister Imran Khan’s aide on accountability Shahzad Akbar brought me a note signed by him. The note was delivered confidentially. Azam Khan said in his statement that Shahzad Akbar said that the prime minister had given permission to present the note in the cabinet [for endorsement]. After confirming it with the prime minister, the file was sent to the cabinet secretary.
“When the matter was discussed with the cabinet secretary, he was present in my office.” The former principal secretary stated that he did not attend the cabinet meeting on this issue and was not aware of the discussion on this issue in the federal cabinet. Azam Khan said that he recognised the signature on the agreement, while the contract was accompanied by a secret document which was not disclosed. It should be noted that earlier former federal ministers Pervez Khattak and Zubaidah Jalal had also submitted their statements in the court in the 190 million pound case.
