Large-scale operation to be launched against encroachments: mayor
Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has said the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation will launch a large-scale operation against encroachments in the city.
Talking with journalists at the Karachi Union of Journalists (Dastoor) annual Haleem dinner event, he said there was a water shortage issue in the city and in future licences would be issued for commercial sale of water in the city.
Wahab said the first phase of safe city project would be completed within a year. He said the city government was also making efforts to deal with drug addicts in the city.
He expressed regret over the death of children who fell into a manhole in the Malir area. He expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements during the Muharram procession.
Sindh Minister Saeed Ghani said the Pakistan Peoples Party is not in favour of banning any political party in the recent political scenario, but the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf should prove itself that it is a political party.
