JI protests against military operation plan
KHAR: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in Bajaur district staged a protest rally on Monday against possible military operation in the merged areas.
The rally was addressed by JI leaders including Sahibzada Haroon Rashid, PK-22 candidate Abid Khan, Sardar Khan, Sufi Hameed, Haji Sahib-ur-Rehman, Maulana Waheed Gul, and Farmanullah.
The speakers stated that previous operations in Bajaur and other tribal regions, carried out under various names, only led to the displacement of residents and the destruction of properties.
They emphasised that globally, conflicts had been resolved through negotiations. The speakers said that engaging in warfare would only result in significant losses for both security forces and civilians, potentially destroying the infrastructure once again and causing massive unemployment among tribal people.
The speakers said that instead of military operations, efforts should be made for rehabilitation in the tribal areas. This, they argued, would naturally eliminate unrest, violence, and terrorism.
The JI leaders announced their opposition to the operation. They said that the amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, would visit Bajaur on July 8 to address a rally, highlighting the overall sense of deprivation among the people and fostering a peaceful environment.
