Lanjar orders strict enforcement of Eid code of conduct
Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar on Sunday ordered that the Eidul Azha contingency plan for security be made solid and integrated, and the Eid code of conduct be strictly implemented.
According to Lanjar’s directives to police, all stakeholders should be taken into confidence to enforce the code of conduct, and to ensure the implementation of the contingency plan prepared for range, zone and district levels.
The minister said that all registered welfare and social organisations, seminaries and other stakeholders should be bound by the conditions of the code of conduct issued by the provincial government.
He said that the process of scrutiny of written permits and other necessary documents issued regarding the collection and transfer of hides of sacrificial animals should be carried out.
He also said that under the Eid security plan, steps should be taken at all levels to implement all orders issued from the central command & control centre set up at the Central Police Office so that suspicious activities can be detected and timely action can be ensured.
Measures such as interconnection of zonal district control rooms established in the city, and wireless control rooms of police stations should also be made highly coordinated and effective, he added. Lanjar said that lists of all mosques, Imambargahs, Eidgahs and other spaces for Eid prayers in the province should be reviewed and then divided into categories to ensure the deployment of not only the relevant police officials but also commandos.
He said surveillance teams comprising plain-clothes officials should be formed at police station level, and they should be deployed at shopping centres, crowded public places, cattle markets, allotted parking lots and inside Eid prayer spaces.
