50 students caught cheating in matric exams
Chairman Board of Secondary Education Karachi Dr Syed Sharaf Ali Shah on Saturday visited different examination centres of Karachi where he caught 50 candidates cheating in their papers.
Officials said that in Malir, six candidates were found involved in replacing the original candidates, 36 students were caught possessing mobile phones and another eight were found involved in copying.
The board chairman visited the Government Girls Secondary School Barf Khana Malir from where furniture complaints were being received. He directed that board officers should visit the examination centres daily.
They added that Chairman Shah also visited the Asif Government Boys Secondary School in Malir’s Kala Board area where he sought details from the centre superintendent regarding complaints of furniture in Barf Khana School.
On this occasion, he said that the board immediately met the shortage of furniture.
He also ordered immediate posting of an external superintendent at the same school. He said board officials should meet candidates or visit examination centres daily from which complaints were being received, and they should also redress these complaints.
Later, during the annual examinations on Saturday, the question paper of Class-IX Physics was taken in the morning shift and for the 10th class Pakistan Studies paper was taken in the evening shift. On this occasion, the vigilance officer of the board and other board officers visited various examination centres and registered a report of 50 candidates involved in cheating, at the complaint cell of the board.
Action against fake candidates and those using unfair means from the Government Boys Secondary Beru Village in Malir, Shaheedan Watan Memorial School, Orangi Town, Hub Government Boys Secondary School Steel Town, a private school’s Gulshan-e-Hadeed campus, Agosh Children’s School Gulshan-e-Hadeed, and a school in Green Town.
