PESHAWAR: Advisor to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tourism, Culture and Archeology, Zahid Chanzeb, has approved the extension in the contract of the Tourism Police and the provision of more motorbikes required by them.
He gave the nod while presiding over a meeting at the Culture and Tourism Authority office on Monday, said a communication. KPCTA Director-General Barkatullah Marwat, Commandant of Tourism Police and other officers attended the meeting.
Zahid Chanzeb said as the tourism season was to begin with Eidul Fitr, tourism police officials must immediately reach places of duty to provide security to tourists.The adviser said that a record number of tourists were expected to arrive at all the tourist spots of KP during this season, security, health and sanitation arrangements for them was the the duty of the Tourism Police
The adviser directed the Commandant Tourism Police to visit tourist places all over the province instead of staying at the office.Zahid Chanzeb said the tenure of the officials of the Tourism Department would be extended based on their quarterly performance, results and increase in revenue generation, while the officers who perform poorly would be relieved and sent home immediately.
