Despite constitutional guarantees and protections, the transgender community is still suffering a great deal of problems in Pakistan, such as exclusion from the mainstream political landscape, denial of healthcare and economic opportunities, injustice, exploitation, and inhuman treatment.
Although the government has passed legislation to protect the rights of transgender community, society at large continues to ignore them. In order to eliminate transphobic attitudes from society, the government needs to ensure mandatory education regarding the rights of the transgender community.
