The inefficient drainage system in Karachi results in frequent flooding, causing inconvenience and safety hazards for residents and commuters. The flooding not only affects the roadways but also leads to stagnant pools of water that create breeding grounds for mosquitoes and other pests. Additionally, the excess water runoff can damage properties, vehicles, and infrastructure. I request that the local administration conduct a comprehensive assessment of the drainage system in the city.
This assessment should include identifying areas prone to flooding, evaluating the current drainage infrastructure, and outlining necessary improvements. I also urge the municipal departments to prioritize the implementation of measures such as cleaning and clearing of storm drains, installation of additional drainage systems, and maintenance of existing infrastructure to ensure proper water flow and drainage.
