A Russian language teaching centre has been established at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science & Technology (Fuuast). The inauguration ceremony of the centre will be held on March 26. The centre has been completed at a cost of Rs7 million.

The centre has been established under the Russian Centre of Science & Culture, better known as the Friendship House, with the support of the Russian government. Russian teachers will teach the Russian language at the centre for free.

Three centres are going to be built in Pakistan with the cooperation of the Friendship House, and the only centre in Sindh has been established at Fuuast in a classroom of the Department of International Relations.

For this purpose, a Russian carpenter prepared a modern and beautiful classroom in Russian style. After learning the Russian language, students will be able to get scholarships at Russian universities.

An agreement was signed between Fuuast’s Department of International Relations and the Friendship House on January 25, 2023. Under this agreement six students have received scholarships, while every year 10 students will be able to go to Russia on scholarships to pursue higher education at Russian universities.

Russian Consul General in Karachi Andrey Viktorovich Fedorov, Member of Provincial Assembly of Sindh Muhammad Asif Khan and Edhi Foundation Chairman Faisal Edhi will be present on the occasion of the Russian language teaching centre’s inauguration ceremony.
