Rs2.1 million for injured cops

LAHORE: Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar Monday released Rs2.1million for the treatment of eight cops, who sustained injuries in the line of duty in different districts.

According to details, head constable Kaleem Ullah Khan of Rahim Yar Khan was given Rs500,000 for his medical treatment and constable Asad Ullah of Lahore Rs100,000.

SDPOs’ performance reviewed

Additional IG Investigation Punjab Muhammad Idrees Ahmad Monday chaired a meeting of SSPs/SPs (Investigation) of the province participated through video link. He reviewed the progress on the pending challans and the under investigation cases of the last 10 years.

Addressing the meeting, the AIGP said the senior investigation officers should expedite the procession of pending cases with the effective mutual coordination of the prosecution department and should complete the pending challans and send the progress report to the Investigation Headquarters.

He asked the officers to use modern technology to investigate serious crimes and SPs investigation should personally supervise and complete the investigation of high profile cases in minimum possible time. DIG Investigation Capt (retd) Syed Hamad Abid, SP Investigation Shazia Sarwar, AIG Monitoring Tariq Mehboob, DSP Legal Nasir Panjuta, DSP Crime Monitoring Sheikh Muzaffar Akram and other officers attended the meeting.
