WASHINGTON: The US Department of State said Tuesday that it wants to see “freedom of expression and the right to a free press upheld,” in Pakistan as is true anywhere around the world.
Responding to a question about Imran Khan’s allegations of US involvement in Pakistani politics, the department spokesperson said, “All I can do is continue to stand up here and tell the truth, which is, those allegations are incorrect, they’re false.” He added what the US wants is “for the people of Pakistan to be able to decide the future of their country including their own government.”
