Imran praises Alvi for not summoning NA session
Imran added the PTI was joining all the parties that were the victim of poll fraud and will protest against it countrywide
RAWALPINDI: Former prime minister and PTI founder chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday praised President Arif Alvi’s decision not to summon the National Assembly session and said “the president did the right thing by not calling the session. The PTI has won but specific seats are not being allotted to the party”.
Speaking to reporters at the Adiala jail, he said, “There is no greater theft than stealing the public mandate. They are the ones who opposed the FATF legislation and demanded the closure of their cases.”
When asked about writing a letter to the IMF, Imran said he had dictated the letter to the international financial body. “The letter will be sent after today’s meeting,” he said.
Justifying the action, Imran elaborated that the purpose of the letter was to inform the IMF that the country could not achieve economic stability without political stability. “The whole nation says the elections were rigged. A party which secured only 20 seats will have their prime minister. The entire nation stood against the mafia on February 8. The chief election commissioner must resign, as he did not provide PTI with a level playing field. Even the caretaker government is working against my party, and the ECP is still busy rigging the results, leaving us with no hope in the system,” he added. “Every effort was made to dismantle my party. May 9 was used as a tactic against us,” he said, adding that the oppression did not destroy the PTI but made it the most popular party.
Answering a question about his earlier statements calling the JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman ‘diesel’ and Mehmood Khan Achakzai ‘traitor’, Imran said, “We are against the PMLN, PPP and MQM who were forcefully declared winners through rigging.”
Imran added the PTI was joining all the parties that were the victim of poll fraud and will protest against it countrywide.
