E-Challan, Punjab Axle Load App launched
LAHORE : Provincial Transport Minister Ibrahim Hassan Murad along with Secretary Transport Ahmed Javed Qazi inaugurated E-Challan and Punjab Axle Load Enforcement App at a launching ceremony organised by Punjab Transport Company at a private hotel on Friday.
Addressing the ceremony, provincial minister congratulated the team of PITB and Transport Department and said that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the entire team has been working day and night to serve the common man. He said that providing a safe ride to the citizens is one of the top priorities of the department while 600 billion rupees were being lost due to violations against axle load enforcement, but now it is hoped that with the help of the App, it will decrease by 90%. The provincial transport minister said the target of the transport department was to end the paper challan, but today, as a result of the best teamwork, the journey towards e-challan has started. He said that the aim of the Vehicles Inspection and Challaning App is to shift to paperless challaning. He further said that e-challaning will eliminate the complaints of fake and bogus challans.
Addressing the event, transport secretary said that E-challaning has made it possible to obtain transparency and real-time information, while E-challaning will save other resources including printing of the challan book. He said that in E-challaning there will be both driver and vehicle as opposed to challan. How many operations, at which place and against which violation, all data will be immediately available. Whereas in case of challan, the driver will receive a challan message on his registered mobile number.
CEO PTC said that with E-challaning, officers will also have clear access to the location of inspectors on duty, while entering the vehicle number or ID card number in the app will autofill all the information. Faiq Ahmed said that Vehicles Inspection and Challaning App has been linked with Excise, Route Permit and Fitness Certificate App. Digital driving will completely eliminate the element of corruption, but digital driving will also help in checking the performance of transport inspectors. At the end of the ceremony, the provincial minister distributed shields to various representative of different departments while a commemorative shield was also presented to the provincial minister on behalf of the transport department. On this occasion Secretary Transport Ahmed Javed Qazi, Chief Executive Officer PTC Faiq Ahmed, Punjab Transport Company Enforcement Inspectors and officers of Transport Department also were present.
