KARACHI: Superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s latest film “Fan” has set a new record for the box office takings in Pakistan at Rs6.6 crore in the first three days of its release.

“Fan” has smashed the weekend record for Hindi films by recording the biggest Weekend ever for the Hindi films, leaving both “Dilwale” and “Dhoom 3” behind.  As per the early estimates, the figures are looking good to go over the 6.5 crore mark and might even end up around the 7 crore mark! The film has done astonishing business in all the circuits.

Despite being a dark thriller featuring no songs, the film has left behind all the Hindi films over the weekend. It went houseful everywhere over the weekend, and the result over the weekdays and with a dull genre is stupendous.

The film earned Rs2.05 crore on Friday; Rs2.4 crore on Saturday and Rs2.15 crore on Sunday, the total being Rs6.6 crore in Pakistan.  The film's Saturday takings are the biggest single-day takings ever for any Hindi film whereas Sunday’s takings are the biggest Sunday takings ever for any Hindi release.

The highest revenue for the film came from Karachi and Lahore, and the fans have given the film thumbs up as bookings for the next one week have been sold out in most of the cineplexes and theatres.

“Fan” sees Shah Rukh Khan staging a triumphant comeback to form, essaying a double role, and so far the critics in both India and Pakistan have also given thumbs up to the film. Shah Rukh is a bankable star, and his star power was visible on the first three days of the film’s release as all the shows were sold out in Karachi.

On the other hand, the first weekend takings of the movie in India were Rs52.35 crore. The overseas takings stand at $6.010 million which is equal to Rs40.01 crore. Thus, the worldwide business of the movie is a whopping Rs92.36 crore.

Shah Rukh Khan has been receiving a lot of acclaim for “Fan”, and the actor is so happy about the positive response. The movie is being loved not only by his fans, but it has also impressed the critics.

SRK was asked by one of his fans about his younger son AbRam’s reaction after watching the movie. To this, King Khan answered, “AbRam watched the film and he liked the film up to a point. He kept on saying ‘Two-Two Papas!’ And there’s a sequence in the film which is quite magical when Gaurav is dancing in front of Aryan and he started saying, ‘So many Papas!’ But near the end of the film, he got really disturbed because the papas were really fighting hard.”

SRK fans would find the production very entertaining as the actor with this movie has changed the way he performs the role of a particular character in the film.
