Interim Committee urges action against PWLF suspended officials’ participation
KARACHI: The Interim Committee on Pakistan Weightlifting Federation (PWLF) has requested the international authorities to take notice of participation of suspended officials/representatives of PWLF in international events.
“We request International Weightlifting Federation, Olympic Council of Asia, Asian Weightlifting Federation, International Testing Agency and World Anti-Doping Agency leadership to take cognisance of participation of suspended officials/representatives of PWLF in international events, despite its automatic suspension under Article 9.1(a) and prevention under Article 12.5.1 of the ADR since February 25, 2023 and pursuance by the Interim Committee,” stated the IC in a letter to the said authorities.
Chairman IC Brig (retd) Zahid Iqbal further requested the leadership of ITA, IWF, and CAS to complete the pending investigations against the suspended officials of PWLF and the players involved in doping scam. “The Interim Committee also urges Secretary IPC, Director General of Pakistan Sports Board, President/Secretary Pakistan Olympics Association, Anti-Doping Organisation of Pakistan and other stakeholders to respect the suspension order of PWLF (August 31, 2022) by the PSB Board Meeting headed by the Minister IPC,” stated the letter.
