LG reps oppose decision on cattle market
NOWSHERA: The members of Tehsil Council, Nowshera, on Wednesday rejected the Cantt Board’s decision to hold cattle markets on the same day in the district.
Talking to reporters, member tehsil Council and Chairman Village Council Behram Khankhel Shah Faisal Khan, chairmen Junaid, Fayyaz Khan, Kamran Khattak and others said that the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) would face severe financial crunch if the CB decision was implemented.
They said that the tehsil council had been holding the cattle market for decades in Nowshera and the income received from the same were being given to the poor employees of TMA in the form of salaries and other expenses.
They said that it was the sole major income source of the TMA, which would vanish if the CB decision on holding the cattle market on the same day was implemented.
The LG representatives said that the Nowshera TMA was already facing severe financial crises due to the cut in sources of income.
They said that the CB should hold a cattle market other than Wednesday. The LG representatives alleged that the contractor and the local station house officer of Nowshera were pressuring the cattle dealers and other traders to visit CB cattle market for their businesses, which they termed unethical and illegal action. They warned of launching a protest drive if the CB did not reverse its decision.
