ISLAMABAD: The issue of horse-trading in the Senate elections also echoed during the National Assembly session on Wednesday as a member from Fata staged a walkout from the House while levelling allegations of use of money to elect members of the Upper House.Shahabuddin, a member from the PML-N, speaking on a point of order said that six MNAs hailing from Fata have formed their group and now they would elect all the four Senators from there. “The six members have formed their group and they all are set to elect all the four senators. We the five members have no value,” Shahabuddin said. The PML-N parliamentarian demanded that in future the senators from Fata should also be elected by the National Assembly to put an end to use of money. “How a member who makes his way to the Upper House on the basis of money can serve the people,” he said. The PPP member Nawab Muhammad Yousuf Talpur and other members from the party and those representing the farmers’ community also walked out from the house in protest against delay in announcement of support price of sugarcane.
The MQM parliamentary leader Abdul Rashid Godil on a point of order protested the killing of member of his party’s legal aid committee Syed Ali Hasnain Bokhari who was shot dead in Karachi. He said the slain advocate was dealing with cases of missing workers of the MQM and his murder was a matter of concern for the party leadership. He demanded Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi to direct the concerned authorities to hold inquiry into the incident.
