Zahid Hamid elected head of joint sitting body
ISLAMABAD: The committee on the joint sitting on Bills elected Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid as its chairman.
Zahid Hamid after being elected as chairman of the committee thanked the fellow parliamentarians for entrusting confidence and ensured that the suggestions and amendments would be welcomed and incorporated in the Bills.
The next meeting will be held on March 29, 2016 at the Parliament House. The joint session Parliament referred Pakistan International Airlines (Conversion) Bill and five other bills to a special parliamentary committee to develop consensus between the government and opposition parties. The joint session adopted a motion constituting a 10-member committee for preparing recommendations and proposals on the six bills.
The committee includes federal ministers Zahid Hamid and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Senators Mushahidullah Khan, Mir Hasil Bazinjo, Saeed Ghani and MNAs Naveed Qamar, Asad Umar, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Khurram Dastgir Khan and Dr Farooq Sattar. The committee would finalise its recommendations and proposals on the six bills by the 7th of the next month.
