It was a magical ceremony that kept the audience fully intact, presenting the Award Rekha bowed down to Asha’s contribution to the Indian film industry and touched her feet. She also planted a kiss on the singer’s face leaving her with a smile. No one can forget Rekha’s performance and Asha’s singing in Umrao Jaan.
Bhosle, 84, was selected for the award instituted in the memory of the filmmaker, reflecting upon her journey of over six decades, her illustrious music career spans over six decades and recorded over 11,000 songs in 20 different languages,
Yash Chopra’s wife Pamela Chopra, filmmakers Boney Kapoor, Madhur Bhandarkar, singer Alka Yagnik, actor Padmini Kohlapure, scriptwriter Honey Irani, and Anu and Shashi Ranjan were part of the award jury panel.
