Indian singer-turned politician calls for ban on Atif Aslam, Rahat in Bollywood
Indian singer-turned politician and Union minister, Babul Supriyo has called for removal of Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali khan’s voice from a song of Bollywood upcoming movie ‘Welcome to New York”.
He demanded that Rahat’s voice from ‘Dil Mein Chubhne Laga Hai Khaar Koyi’ to be removed and dubbed by someone else from India.
Supriyo said he is not in favour of cross-border entertainment exchange in a time when tensions between the two countries are high.
He further expressed his dislike for Atif Aslam song ‘Dil Diyan Gallan’, saying Arijit could have done a better job.
Supriyo went on to say that India has no problem with Atif or Rahat, but with their Pakistani nationality.
The film Welcome to New York, starring an ensemble cast of Karan Johar, Diljit Dosanjh, Sonakshi Sinha, Boman Irani, Rana Daggubati, also features Salman Khan in a special song.
Salman Khan apparently got Arijit Singh’s voice replaced in Tiger Zinda Hai, and he is said to have done it again for Welcome To New York.
Salman, however, had refuted rumours that it was the producers’ decision.
