Bollywood gems that bid farewell in 2017

2017 was the year that saw a huge influx of new stars debuting for the Indian film industry. However, there were some legends that bid farewell to rest in their final abode.

SHASHI KAPOOR

Belonging to the illustrious Kapoor family, Shashi was one of the most popular heroes of his time. He started his career at the age of 6 when he debuted for his father Prithviraj Kapoor’s theatre company named ‘Prithvi Theater’. He also received many awards for his performances in renowned movies. Unfortunately, Shashi lost the battle of life at 89 due to kidney failure.

TOM ALTER

Tom Alter departed on 29th September this year. He was suffering from cancer. Alter showcased his acting skills both in Hindi cinema and the theater. In respect of his performances, the Indian government had awarded him with the coveted Padma Shri award in the year 2008 too.

REEMA LAGOO

Reema Lagoo started her work in films from Marathi Cinema. Later she worked closely with big names and audiences liked her performing the role of mother. Sadly, she passed away due to cardiac arrest in the month of May.

VINOD KHANNA

Vinod Khanna was also a famous name in the Indian film industry. He was born in Peshawar in 1946. Only a few days prior to his death a picture taken during his last days went viral on social media. On May 31 the actor said his final goodbye because of brain tumor.

OM PURI

Born in Ambala in 1950, Om Puri was one of the finest Bollywood had ever produced. He acted exceptionally not only in Indian films but in international projects too. His famous movies include Maqbool, Wish, Delhi 6 and Mandi along with various others. Om Puri died on January 6 due to heart attack.
