LOS ANGELES: According to various international media reports citing sources close to the actor, Brad Pitt has been devastated after his separation and impending divorce with Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie.
Once one half of the most powerful couple in Hollywood, Brad Pitt received the shock of his life when a couple of days ago, his wife Angelina Jolie filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences with her husband.
According to sources close to the actor, Pitt has been hurt bad by the break-up and has been crying over the separation.
"He is beside himself and has been crying. He was completely caught off guard and blindsided and had no idea she would do this," a popular international website quoted a source close to the actor.
"Angelina filed the court papers a minute before the courts closed on Monday night. He didn’t have a lawyer or anything. She had threatened divorce in the past but he did not think she would file this time," added the source.
Another source stated that Brad Pitt was 'extremely upset' at the divorce but was focusing on doing what was best for his children and protecting them from the harsh glare of the media.
Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt and requested sole custody of the couple's children which include Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8.
Media reports claimed the reason for the couple's separation was Pitt's extramarital affair with actress Marion Cotillard. However, the actress and her boyfriend both denied the rumours.
Other media reports claimed the couple had serious difference over a couple of issues, which included parenting. Brad Pitt is also reportedly being investigated by the FBI for child abuse.
Jolie filing for divorce ended a 14-year relationship that she and Brad Pitt had, including 2 years of marriage. Pitt divorced Friends' star Jennifer Aniston in 2004 and entered into a relationship with Jolie in the same year. He married Angelina Jolie in 2014.
