Katie Zacharia could replace Karoline Leavitt as Trump’s White House spokesperson
If appointed, Katie Zacharia would replace Karoline Leavitt, who left the Trump administration in late August
The White House has offered Katie Zacharia, a lawyer and conservative political commentator, the position of press secretary in US President Donald Trump’s administration.
A White House official confirmed the offer to CNBC on Friday, speaking anonymously because the appointment has not yet been formally announced.
It remains unclear whether Zacharia has accepted the position. If appointed, she would replace Karoline Leavitt, who left the Trump administration in late August.
Zacharia currently works as a senior communications adviser for Trump Media & Technology Group, the company behind Trump’s social media platform, Truth Social.
According to her LinkedIn profile, she joined Trump Media in June, and also serves as general counsel for Fix California, a conservative political organisation founded by Richard Grenell, a longtime Trump ally.
Grenell previously served as Trump’s special presidential envoy for special missions and led the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
The White House press secretary is responsible for communicating the administration’s policies, answering questions from journalists and conducting regular media briefings.
