Sandringham Estate announces closure after King Charles big move for Andrew

Sandringham Estate has announced its closure for the season 2026 hours after claims King Charles has personally paid the Crown Estate for the £1.8m dilapidation repair costs to Royal Lodge as Andrew officially surrendered royal residence.

Royal expert Roya Nikkhah has claimed, “Palace sources confirm the King, not Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, personally paid the Crown Estate for the £1.8m dilapidation repair costs to Royal Lodge, Andrew’s former Windsor home where he has surrendered the lease.”

Amid these claims, Sandringham Estate said on Instagram, “Today we close Sandringham House and Gardens for the 2026 season.”

It further said, “a big thank you to every visitor who has joined us since March, it has been a pleasure to welcome you and share our stories of Their Majesties, royal history and the wider estate.”

The post also features some lovely customer feedback they have received over the last 7 months.

“We look forward to sharing details of our 2027 programme and booking details soon, but before then, we have lots of exciting opportunities to enjoy this winter!”

Meanwhile, it added Sandringham Courtyard remains open with winter opening times, “so prepare for our new autumn menu, Christmas shopping, events and waymarked trail adventures in the Royal Parkland.”

Earlier, the Britain's Crown Estate, which manages King Charles public property, said on Friday that Mountbatten-Windsor had surrendered the lease on Royal Lodge more than 50 years early, entitling him to £302,000 in compensation.
