Ali Larter got candid about her ‘empowering’ role in Landman.

Larter is reprising her iconic character Angela Norris in upcoming Landman season 3, almost a year after the show’s second season, while her co-star Michelle Randolph, is returning as her on-screen daughter, Ainsley Norris.

Recently speaking with People Magazine, Larter reflected on the lengthy break between the two season, and how she felt “so distant” from the character.

“I just started on Monday. I called Michelle, I said, ‘Girl, we’ve got to put on some heels, our tight jeans. We need to go have some shots at the bar, and we’ve got to go find these girls again,’ because it’s been a year,” Larter told the outlet.

“We’re so distant from Angela and from Ainsley,” she added.

She went on to recall, “I love the cast and the crew. When I saw the crew the first day, it was just like, we had to delay filming because there were so many hugs and how-are-yous. We have an extraordinary group of people.”

As Texas is the central to the series, the actress opened up about its influence, saying, “I just love Texas. That’s the character in the show,” she says.

She continued, “I mean, look, when you go into small-town Texas, and you start to see it, and even the Friday Night Lights of it all in Midland with us in the Permian Basin — Texas is a state unto itself. And it is about family, it is about faith, it is about football, and then it’s honestly the core of it is the oil.”

“I love that we get to shoot where our story takes place. That really influences it,” Larter added further.

The Landman actress praised the creator, Taylor Sheridan’s writing, for making her character “unique,” and “empowering.”

“I love the way Taylor writes to her, because she’s so unique in how she speaks and all her little analogies and the way she’s raising her daughter to the best that she knows how,” she said.

Adding, “I think that the thread for me is more the family first, and I think that she — it’s really fun to step back into her shoes because she doesn’t care what other people think about her.”

“That’s something that I think I deal with, that everyone deals with, is the judgment of others, and to get to play a character that doesn’t care about those things, for me is really empowering, and that’s why I’m like, alright, I’m ready to get back into this,” Larter further shared.

It is pertinent to mention here that the upcoming season’s filming began on October 1, 2026.
