Naomi Watts recalls fearing Billy Crudup wouldn't want her anymore

Naomi Watts is recalling a vulnerable point during her early days of her relationship with her now-husband, Billy Crudup, when she thought Billy would leave her.

The 58-year-old actress talked about her early symptoms of menopause, which started in her mid-30s and revealed that she was afraid to tell her secret to her then-boyfriend, whom she began dating in 2017, because she thought Billy would no longer date her.

Recalling the first conversation she had with Billy about her menopause, Naomi said, "I was crying in the bathroom, trying to scratch off my oestrogen patch. I told him what was going on, so nervous, and I thought: ‘He’s not gonna want to be with me anymore!'"

"He said: 'Hold on. It’s great that you are taking care of yourself. Why are you ashamed?' It was so sweet … And sexy. I felt safer than I ever felt."

And the experience made her the biggest advocate of early menopause symptoms and she went on to found her own company called Stripes Beauty.

Naomi shared, "Menopause became a huge topic of conversation, because I went through it early on in my life and had no clue what was happening with my body."

She further added, "Once I talked about it with my partner, who is now my husband, and he was supportive, I went, 'How about I just own the story?' I’m in on the joke, although it’s not actually a joke. Why do we just suffer, instead of getting some normalcy? Just own it ..."

Naomi advised both men and women, "Men have to be curious and compassionate. And our job, ladies, is to share the story."

It is pertinent to mention that Naomi and Billy tied the knot in 2023.
