Lili Reinhart opens up about ‘traumatic’ time while filming ‘Riverdale’

Lili Reinhart has admitted she “doesn’t really remember” her seven seasons on Riverdale, because they were so “traumatic.”

The 30-year-old actress starred as Betty Cooper on the teen TV drama, from the pilot in 2017 to the final episode in 2023.

However, in an interview on the In Your Dreams podcast, Lili admitted the lasting effect of being on the show means she has few memories of the experience.

“I don’t really remember. Because it was kind of traumatic,” she confessed.

Lili continued to attempt to explain, “There’s this thing that happens, where it happens very quickly if you’re on a show like that.”

“It rises into pop culture and a lot’s happening at once. It’s so weird. I’m very thankful that TikTok wasn’t a thing when this was happening for me,” she added.

Despite clarifying that she “loves” the social media app, and spends hour a day surfing the videos on there, Lili blamed it for making “things bigger” than they’d be without TikTok.

She mused, “I think had Riverdale been any bigger than it was, it would have been too much for all of us. That’s why I have really a lot of just empathy and compassion for the young people in their 20s who are on shows now that are blasted all over TikTok, because it’s just really amplified more than it ever has been.”

“Nobody deserves that many people commenting on your existence. It’s just too much,” Lili expressed.

Due to her Riverdale role, Lili often finds herself called “Betty” by people when she’s out and about, which she “sometimes would love to not be called.”

But the screen star always keeps in mind that it’s “coming from love.” “That’s just inherently what most people know me for, but I have the rest of my career to keep doing things and it doesn’t like inhibit me in any way.”

Lili Reinhart concluded by insisting that she feels “privileged” to have starred in Riverdale as it’s “so impactful to people or pop culture that they carry that association through the rest of your career.”
