Prince Harry gives candid update on kids' new school routine

Prince Harry is sharing a rare update on how his children are adjusting to life in the UK. 

The Duke of Sussex completed a skydive near Toronto this Friday in support of military charities, after which he briefly touched on his family's recent move back to England.

“It’s been great. It’s been great to be back on British soil,” he told CTV, before joking about being back on solid ground both literally and figuratively. “It’s great to be back on terra firma, actually!”

He and his wife Meghan Markle moved to the UK with their children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, in late August, just in time for the start of the school year.

Their transition wasn't without early hurdles. Just two days into the term, the couple switched their children to a different school due to security and logistical concerns related to their daily commute.

Now several weeks in, Harry said the kids are happy and settled. “The kids are happy in school, and it gives me a chance to really focus on Invictus in Birmingham,” the father-of-two continued. “The Games are in July next year.” 

Prince Harry also recently opened up about a smaller, more personal parenting moment. Speaking at the WellChild Awards last week, he described dealing with his children's "Monday blues" at breakfast by turning the moment into a teaching opportunity, sharing with them who he'd be meeting that day through his charity work. 

He said Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet responded with genuine curiosity, something he sees as an important part of raising awareness through his and Meghan's work.

Sources close to the couple say the move to the UK had been something Prince Harry considered for some time, driven partly by a desire for his children to better understand his upbringing and family history. 

For Meghan, who grew up in California, the transitions to-and-from the UK also gave their children the chance to experience both sides of their parents' backgrounds.
