Ina Garden makes surprising confession about longtime husband Jeffrey E. Garden

Ina Garden opened up about “freedom” in her marriage to Jeffrey E. Garden.

On Thursday, September 24, speaking with People Magazine, the celebrity chef opened up about her longtime husband, Jeffrey and said some glowing words about him.

“He’s just so incredibly affectionate and supportive and positive and happy and funny and smart,” Ina told the outlet.

“He’s just incredible,” she added.

It is worth noting here that the longtime chief was married to Jeffrey in December 1968, when they were in their twenties and now it has been almost 57 years since their marriage. However the couple do not have any children.

Ina revealed that the couple “keep it simple.” She further revealed how they managed their lives, while recalling Jeffrey's time as financial services company, Lehman Brother’s financier, saying, “We don’t complicate our personal lives. We each love what we do professionally. What he did [as a financier for Lehman Brothers] took him to Hong Kong for two years [in the 1980s],”

She went on to elaborate, “We give each other the space to do what we love to do, and we’re the anchor in each other’s lives. I think a lot of people in a relationship feel like it restricts them, but I feel that since he’s always there, and I’m always there for him, it gives us freedom, actually, which is nice.”

Speaking about their life choices, Ina said, “We don’t have kids, we don’t have cats, we don’t have dogs, we don’t even have gerbils.”

Noting, “We work really hard, and we love the time that we spend together.”

“I love doing laundry. Going for a walk. Jeffrey and I go for lunch, take a nap in the afternoon, read a book.”

“Whatever I feel like doing without having to say, ‘Okay, I have to finish this now because I have four more things to do.’ To me, that’s the greatest luxury is a day off like that,” she further revealed.

The television personality was questioned, what their life would be like if she stepped away from her career,

“It won’t happen. We love what we do — why would I stop?” the 78-year-old responded lightheartedly.
