David Jonsson shares training photos ahead of 'Black Panther 3'

David Jonsson is deep into training for his upcoming role as the new Black Panther. 

The 33-year-old actor recently shared a series of Instagram posts, sharing a glimpse of his preparation which included intense physical activity and some laid-back moments of recovery.

The photos show Jonsson hiking shirtless up a steep hill, and in others, posing on a motorcycle, or doing morning stretches, or relaxing with coffee along a scenic coastline. 

"Took the rear view out, gave it gas. Happy fall y’all," he captioned the post simply, celebrating the start of fall. 

Jonsson was announced as the next Black Panther at San Diego Comic-Con this past July. He'll be stepping into the role as the adult son of T'Challa, the character originally played by the late Chadwick Boseman in 2018's Black Panther. 

Boseman died of colon cancer in 2020 while the sequel was still in development. The franchise continued with 2022's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which addressed T'Challa's death and introduced his young son.

The next film, Black Panther 3, is expected to follow Jonsson's character as he grows into the role of a young hero. Marvel confirmed the project in late 2024, with director Ryan Coogler set to return. Denzel Washington will also join the cast in a role reportedly written specifically for him.

This is Jonsson's first update since celebrating his casting announcement back in July, when he shared the film's expected release date of December 15, 2028. The Black Panther franchise also stars other prominent names like Letitia Wright, Danai Gurira, Angela Bassett, and Michael B. Jordan.

Before Black Panther 3 arrives, Marvel's next major release is Avengers: Doomsday, hitting theaters December 18.
