Alan Ritchson reveals why 'Reacher' season was cancelled

Though Reacher is already renewed for season 5, Alan Ritchson previously revealed one season that was approved but ultimately nixed.

That season was based on Lee Child's novel Die Trying, set in Reacher's universe.

However, the star said that when someone got elected, the season was axed without naming who.

When a fan asked the actor on Threads, "Every season of Reacher so far has been great, and I understand that they may be avoiding the earlier novels due to their slightly less standalone nature, but every year I'm sad to learn that next season won't be the book where he kills his way through a white supremacist militia camp."

He wrote on Threads in response, “My favourite book. Fun fact: I had it approved until someone got re-elected.”

Ritchson appears to have deliberately refrained from naming the politician, but according to Deadline, he was referring to Donald Trump.

However, the actor did not explain exactly why an election led to the apparent scrapping of the Reacher season.

But the plotline of Die Trying is supposedly politically sensitive.

A second book in the series, the novel "follows Jack Reacher as he and a politician’s daughter are abducted by a radical militia, who want to use her as leverage to secede from the United States."
