Sally Field encourages people to 'stand up' for one major cause after Emmy win
Sally Field reveals where she used her free time while filming 'Remarkably Bright Creatures' in Canada
Sally Field reminisced about the time when she was filming Netflix's Remarkably Bright Creatures in Canada at the Emmy Awards.
On Monday, September 14, the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards took place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, where Field secured the award in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
Making her winning speech after winning the award, the 79-year-old American actress, who played Tova Sullivan in the 2026 drama film, revealed to her fans that she used some of her time backstage with the press to advocate for a friendly relationship with Canada, where the film adaptation was shot.
She said, “I do know this that this film was about things that matter to me greatly about friendship, family, and home, and that it was on Canada, our neighbors, magnificent Canada, that I felt so welcomed. Fight for it. Stand up for it. Don’t give it away. Resist.”
The Amazing Spider-Man star went on to mention Vancouver, quipping, “Yes, let’s hear it for Vancouver. It’s a filming city, and honestly, guys, let’s keep our friendships. Let’s keep our neighbors close.”
Notably, Field did not clearly talk about state level-tension between the United States and Canada but people assumed that she was referring to the troubled relationship between both countries since President Donald Trump started the tariff war.
It is pertinent to mention that Remarkably Bright Creatures also secured the Outstanding Movie award at the 2026 Emmys.
