Prince Harry, Meghan Markle will do ‘what they like’
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's UK return follows palace tensions
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle faced public scrutiny amid royal setback.
Just a few days ago, a letter was issued on behalf of King Charles, which clearly stated that there will not be any change in Prince Harry and Meghan’s current status, and reportedly it has left the Duke and Duchess of Sussex “surprised.”
However, an insider shared a different perspective with The i Paper, “He’s still the King’s son. There’s no getting away from that.”
“They are working royals, but they don’t work for the institution any longer,” they added.
Recalling the time when the Sandringham Agreement was made, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their royal duties in 2020, the source said, “I’d be very keen to see what was codified at the time of the Sandringham Agreement.”
They noted, “But it was at a time when the Duke and Duchess were still in receipt of public funds for security and there was financial support from his father.”
A law expert, Craig Prescott, claimed that “If they want a better relationship with the rest of the Royal Family, it’s probably not the best idea to veer away from respecting the values of the late Queen and the monarchy as they stand.”
Moreover, Richard Fitzwilliam, who is a royal commentator, summed up the situation, saying, “Nothing has changed but everything has changed.”
“I think they are going to do what they like,” he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle returned to the UK for an extended stay and are settling into their new home in the Cotswolds.
