King Charles' former 'soulmate' dies at 75

King Charles' former love Davina Sheffield has passed away at the age of 75.

Once described as a "soulmate" of Charles, Sheffield died on September 2, 2026 following a short illness. The news of her passing was confirmed by her three sons, Thomas, William and Henry. Notably, her family said a celebration of life service will be held on November 2, according to multiple outlets' report.

It is pertinent to mention that Davina Sheffield and now-King Charles began dating in 1976. Their romance quickly attracted attention, with royal watchers reportedly seeing her as a possible future Queen Consort.

Charles and Sheffield were frequently spotted together at the time, and her relationship with the royal family also appeared significant when she was later seen sitting alongside Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip at an equestrian event.

Furthermore, Charles also took Sheffield to Balmoral, where she met members of the royal family, including the Queen Mother.

However, the romance eventually came to an end after Sheffield’s former boyfriend, powerboat racer James Beard, revealed that they had previously lived together.

The revelation ended her chances of marrying then-Prince Charles, amid the traditional expectations placed on the future king to marry a woman considered to have an “unblemished” past.

Charles went on to marry Lady Diana Spencer in 1981, while Sheffield married Jonathan Morley five months later.
