Tupac Shakur biographer calls his death 'the dumbest ever'

Tupac Shakur is arguably the most inspiring and era-defining artist in the hip-hop community.

Yet, his shocking killing, according to Jeff Pearlman, who is the author of a new biography about the rap legend, was “the dumbest death ever."

He explains that the late rapper had so much potential, but the reason behind his death was completely avoidable.

Calling it tragically stupid, Shakur said the rapper got involved in an impulsive decision to retaliate in a street-like way.

“A guy that great, with that much greatness, dying that way is just a complete and total waste of life," he said on Reveal by The Center for Investigative Reporting & PRX.

“Tupac died because he had a really impulsive, stupid reaction. He felt like he needed to represent... He was 25 and impulsive," the author noted.

But before the thirtieth anniversary of his death, the court found Duane “Keffe D” Davis guilty in the rapper's high-profile killing in 1996.

But the convicted killer, in his first interview, argued that he is innocent and will go for the appeal.

He told THR, "I’m innocent, man. They got an innocent man sitting in jail. I’ve got two grandsons that are going to the pros in football."

"They All-Americans — one of them is in high school. He has 25 scholarship offers, and the other is from a college. And when they get their millions, they’re coming to get me out of here," Keefe D said.

Shakur's killing took place on September 7, 1996.
