Jacob Elordi hit with the Kardashian curse as latest movie flops
Jacob Elordi has been dating Kendall Jenner since early 2026
The Kardashian curse appears to have struck again, with Kendall Jenner's boyfriend Jacob Elordi's latest film not being a success at the box office.
Jacob is the lead actor in Ridley Scott's latest blockbuster The Dog Stars, which has a reported budget of over $100million, but it has tanked both in Australia and internationally since its release on August 27.
It earned just $623,000 on its opening weekend in Australia, well behind Spider-Man: Brand New Day's $3m and The Odyssey's $2.24m.
Even more startling, its earnings are less than a tenth of the whopping $6m opening weekend Elordi's previous movie, Wuthering Heights, had in Australia in February.
And The Dog Stars’ current worldwide earnings are just $45m, falling well short of the $333m that his movie co-starring Margot Robbie earned worldwide this year.
It is an astonishing change of fortune for the Euphoria star, whose previous movies, including Saltburn and Priscilla, were met with resounding acclaim.
The reversal of fortune has led to rumours that the “Kardashian curse” has struck again, an internet meme which claims a famous person's career will plummet upon getting romantically involved with a Kardashian-Jenner family member.
The actor's post-apocalyptic drama is not faring any better critically either, debuting on Rotten Tomatoes with a rating of just 38 per cent, making it one of the worst-reviewed blockbusters of the year so far.
The Dog Stars, which is set after a devastating flu pandemic, follows a former pilot (played by Elordi) who flees his safe zone in search of a better life after hearing a mysterious radio transmission.
Jacob Elordi and his new girlfriend, Kendall Jenner went public with their relationship in April when they were glimpsed passionately kissing at the afterparty for Justin Bieber's Coachella performance after being set up by the younger sister Kylie Jenner.
