Trump says Canada’s Bombardier cannot sell planes in US unless it manufactures there

US President Donald Trump threatened on Monday to stop Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier from selling in the United States unless it begins manufacturing there.

The Montreal-based company became the latest target of Trump’s push to pressure foreign and domestic companies to move more production to the US.

“NO MORE SELLING BOMBARDIER ​IN THE UNITED STATES! Their products aren’t good enough!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“If they want our Market, they must ​build here, and stop treating America like a 'piggybank.'”

The comments come as trade tensions between Canada and the US continue to escalate with Canada set to impose a new wave of retaliatory tariffs on American imports early Tuesday.

Quebec Premier Christine Frechette said Monday she would not respond to Trump’s comments with further provocations.

“Bombardier is a source of pride for Quebec, a flagship of our economy, and a major player in our aerospace industry. Behind this company are thousands of Quebec workers who showcase our expertise around the world,” Frechette wrote on social media in French.

She added that she had contacted Bombardier CEO Eric Martel to offer the Quebec government’s “full support.”
