Tom Selleck reveals 'very frustrating' reason behind 'Blue Bloods' cancellation

Tom Selleck recently got candid and opened up about the real reason behind the cancellation of Blue Bloods.

For those unaware, the 81-year-old American actor played the role of Frank Reagan in the American police procedural drama television series, which aired on CBS from September 24, 2010, to December 13, 2024. The series had an ensemble cast, including Donnie Wahlberg, Andrew Terraciano, Will Estes, Vanessa Ray, Abigail Hawk, Len Cariou, and others.

As per Radar Online, Selleck revealed, "The real truth to that is, in the last year of Blue Bloods, at our last family dinner, everybody wanted to come back. We'd already taken a 25 percent cut in salary. We'd already done all sorts of things to keep the show going."

He said, "It was very frustrating because ... out of the top 100 shows on broadcast television, Blue Bloods was number six in our 15th year. Nobody wanted to leave. Everybody was gonna stay on."

"Blue Bloods was a labor of love ... I think for everybody," the FRIENDS star quipped, sharing that all cast members tried to stay away from conflict, especially to save the show’s legacy.

“Maybe people don't realize, but a lot of shows become miserable to work on. You get a lot of egos, 'I'm not coming out of my dressing room until he's coming out,' and it's miserable. Blue Bloods was never that,” Tom Selleck stated.

It is pertinent to mention that Blue Bloods ran for 14 seasons and aired a total of 293 episodes.
