Putin orders 3-day pause on Kyiv strikes during US envoys’ visit
Putin is due to meet US special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner today
Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a halt to Russian forces' strikes on Kyiv for three days starting at midnight on September 6, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, according to Russian state media.
According to Peskov, the temporary suspension is tied to preparations for US representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to visit Kyiv. The trip forms part of President Donald Trump's ongoing diplomatic push to broker an end to the war in Ukraine.
The announcement comes hours after Trump administration’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner landed in Moscow for talks with Putin to bring the peace.

Trump also suggested on Friday that the US had “a fresh concrete proposal” aimed at ending the war, ongoing for four and half years. However, he did not disclose the details of the proposal.
A private jet carrying President Donald Trump’s special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner touched down in Moscow on Saturday according to Russian aviation sources cited by Interfex.
The flight follows an announcement by Trump on Friday that the delegation was traveling overseas in a renewed push to broker an end to the war between Russia and Ukraine.
They are also expected to travel to Kyiv on September 6.
