Meghan reportedly passes on home tied to Princess Diana
Prince Harry was initially 'moved' by the offer to live on Princess Diana's childhood estate
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly declined an offer to live at a property on the Althorp Estate, the childhood home of the late Princess Diana.
Reports say the offer for the property, known as The Falconry, came from Diana's brother, Charles Spencer.
A source claimed that Prince Harry felt emotionally connected to the idea, given his mother's ties to the estate. "Harry was genuinely moved because Althorp will always be sacred ground to him," a source told Naughty But Nice.
However, the source said Meghan, who wanted to live in the Cotswolds, "took one look at the reality and knew it wouldn't work."
The offer was reportedly turned down based on the lodge being "too remote, too far from London and, frankly, not nearly grand enough."
The couple stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and moved to the United States, but they are now expected to return to the UK as non-working members of the royal family.
Security has remained a major topic of discussion surrounding their return, as Prince Harry has been involved in an ongoing legal dispute regarding the protective security he lost after stepping back from royal responsibilities.
Although he was unsuccessful in his previous legal challenge, it's expected that his security arrangements will be reevaluated once the couple is settled back in the UK full-time.
A government official recently noted that details around funding for their security remain a private matter.
