Perez Hilton faces huge blow amid his mental health crisis: 'It's deeply traumatic'

The fear of losing custody of his three children is reportedly impending on Perez Hilton as he is facing a mental health crisis.

In August 2026, the 48-year-old American blogger and columnist was admitted to a hospital for mental health treatment after he injured himself during a TikTok livestream. Following the tragic incident, he subsequently signed over temporary custody of his three children, Mario III, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8, to his mother.

An insider told Radar Online, "His mom has been the steady presence in those kids' lives for years. She and his sister have practically raised them. Right now, everyone agrees the children need stability above all else."

Notably, the kids were there at the place of the incident as per the statement released by Hilton’s family on his namesake website, which read, "Just minutes before the public livestream incident, Perez's children, niece, and sister were inside the home.”

“When it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself, they immediately fled to protect the children from witnessing any further trauma," they revealed.

Hilton’s family is now completely focusing on “helping the children begin to heal from what they experienced,” and the first step towards their healing is the sense of “safety, security and normalcy."

Taking custody of his children “isn't about punishing Perez. Everyone wants him to recover. But until he's healthy and stable, the children need to be with the people who can look after them,” stated the source.

"What those children experienced was deeply traumatic. They should never have been anywhere near that situation. The family believes Perez needs to focus on getting healthy before he can safely care for the children,” another insider claimed.
