King Charles set for massive payout
King Charles III will get just under £100 million to run the monarchy
King Charles III will receive just under £100 million in annual funding for his official duties, according to a report in the Mirror.
The monarch will be given £99.9 million from the Sovereign Grant for 2027 to 2028, to support his official duties and the work of the Royal Household, including staffing, official travel and the maintenance of occupied royal palaces, the report said.
According to the report, this money comes as a percentage of the profits of the Crown Estate, a collection of lands and property in the UK that belongs to the reigning monarch, with the rest going to the Exchequer.
Treasury minister Dan Tomlinson said the King had "significantly increased" the number of engagements he is carrying out, as he outlined the changes to royal funding, which were initially raised back in June.
King Charles has increased his official duties despite being under treatment for cancer. The monarch was diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer in 2024.
Buckingham Palace revealed in February 2024 that the monarch was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.
