Margot Robbie rejects 'Barbie 2' deal amid sequel talks

Margot Robbie's return as Barbie could be in jeopardy.

According to Radar Online, Robbie has rejected a multimillion-dollar salary offer from Warner Bros. Discovery, despite the studio reportedly making more than six offers over the past three years.

It has been reported that the latest proposal was said to be the studio's "highest ever." However, negotiations have still failed to produce to produce a deal.

Furthermore, the talks involve the core creative team behind the 2023 blockbuster, including Robbie, Ryan Gosling, director and co-writer Greta Gerwig, and co-writer Noah Baumbach.

It is pertinent to mention that Gosling is reportedly seeking 20 million dollars to reprise his role as Ken, while Gerwig is said to have earned tens of millions of dollars for directing the original film.

Sources claim that the team's demands are justified, given the enormous success of Barbie. The film became a global phenomenon, earning approximately 1.4 billion dollars at the worldwide box office and becoming Warner Bros.’ most successful release ever.

Notably, the Warner Bros. reportedly has only around four months to begin production before the sequel rights could revert to Mattel.

Barbie, the live action movie was released in theaters on July 21, 2023, starring Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Barbie's Ken.
