Elon Musk predicts AI and robots could expand the global economy tenfold: Here’s why

Elon Musk in a recent statement said that advancement in artificial intelligence and humanoid robots could increase productivity and elevate international economic growth in the coming years.

The 55-year-old said the world is heading toward a future with more robots than humans, maintaining that fast-paced advancements in artificial intelligence and humanoid robotics will completely transform systems and behaviors.

Speaking at the G20 Innovation Ministerial in North Carolina on Tuesday, Musk estimated AI could maximize global production output by 20% to 30% or $20 trillion to $30 trillion yearly by efficiently handling digital tasks next year.

Musk’s statement reads: “There will be at least a billion robots in 10 years, and each will produce at least five times the output of a human.”

He predicted energy deficits compromising data centers by 2027 and foresaw over a billion humanoid robots in 10 years, each five times more productive than a human.

Musk urged governments to make new tech lawful default, favoring startups over EU-style regulation. Nonetheless, he maintained that AI could exceed human cognitive capabilities across all domains in a year and could exceed the combined intelligence of humanity by the end of the decade, hastening the shift toward widespread robot integration.
