Alex Warren gets emotional as he shares glimpse of latest collaboration

Alex Warren has revealed that John Mayer appears on a track from his upcoming album Wildchild.

The Ordinary singer posted a clip on social media of himself losing his mind to John’s guitar part on the record, which arrives on Friday.

The collaboration makes Alex sentimental as he mentioned that John was his late father’s “favourite musician,” and that putting them together on a song felt like the perfect tribute.

Alex lost his dad to cancer when he was nine.

He captioned the Instagram post, “Dad you would have loved WILDCHILD.”

Text across the video read, “my dads favorite musician was John Mayer … so I put them on a song together. (sic)”

Earlier this week, Alex was forced to cancel his concert at Auckland’s Spark Arena, pulling out just hours before he was due onstage due to illness.

The musician, who is amidst his Finding Family on the Road World Tour, was left heartbroken after he was left "bedridden" and struggling to "talk let alone sing."

In a social media statement, he said, “I never have to do this and it breaks my heart to even write this but I have to cancel tonight’s show. I have tried everything to be able to make this show work and I’m sadly bedridden sick at the moment. I can barely talk let alone sing and it sadly isn’t possible to play tonight’s show.”

“I understand what it takes to be able to attend concerts and the fact so many of you travelled for this one has made this decision even more difficult. I love you so much and hope you understand,” Alex added.

Promoter Frontier Touring wrote said about Monday, August 24’s gig, “Alex is devastated to miss the show and has been looking forward to performing for his Auckland fans.

“He sincerely thanks fans for their understanding and support.”
