Emily Watson akins joining 'Dune: Prophecy' to 'spaceship': Here's why
Emily Watson also shares a brief tease about season two of 'Dune: Prophecy'
Emily Watson already established her name before signing up for the murky universe of Dune.
But even for her — a critically acclaimed career on hand — the HBO series was, in her words, a wild departure from her career.
“It was a true departure for me to be in a spaceship,” she told Variety, referring to previous roles she did in Breaking the Waves and Gosford Park.
“You know, it’s actually really good fun," the actress said about her experience in the series.
While Watson is playing Valya Harkonnen in Dune: Prophecy, she has a few teases to share about the forthcoming season.
“There are a lot of new elements, really interesting and intriguing things,” she said and joked that fans' heads will blow off if I mention any of them."
Separately, Dune: Part Three — a trilogy on its end by director Denis Villeneuve — is coming to an end this December and Watson said she has never been this excited.
“I mean, I can’t wait to see that movie,” she said, adding, “I’m a huge fan of him, obviously, and it’s stuffed full of incredible actors that I love.”
Still on Dune, Watson added a few more views on the sprawling HBO project in her new interview.
“It’s HBO Max, it’s huge. A lot of money," she recalled her first reaction when she came on board for the show.
Sher added, It’s a sense of it being much more than a corporate world."
But beyond spectacle, Watson, in particular, was hailed as awe-inspiring in Dune: Prophecy, prompting her fans to eagerly wait for what is in store for season two.
