Meghan Markle’s appearance on MasterChef Australia has become a “frustrating” experience for her after judge Poh Ling Yeow make a blunder.

For those unaware, the Duchess of Sussex made an appearance on the Australian competitive cooking reality show as a surprise guest judge on season 18, episode 56, which aired on July 26, 2026. However, it was recorded in April of this year when she was on a private four-day trip to Australia.

During the show, the Malaysian-Australian professional cook and artist mistakenly called Meghan “royalty” even though her team had informed the MasterChef Australia team to avoid using this specific term, as she and Prince Harry left their royal duties and settled in California in 2020.

Yeow said in the episode, "We've had MasterChef royalty in the kitchen before but no one like this,” making it a "frustrating" experience for Meghan.

An insider told Radar Online, "It wasn't about Meghan personally. Poh felt she had been unintentionally drawn into a royal protocol issue she never intended to be part of."

Following Yeow’s slip of the tongue, she did her best to offer an apology to the Duchess of Sussex, but “she was advised to leave it for production to handle."

Notably, an insider claimed that Meghan denies authenticating the story; rather, she states that her time on the show was great.

However, the source called the former Suits star a control freak, revealing that she has been “fuming and barking orders” during her time on MasterChef Australia.

"Everyone's terrified of Meghan. She belittles people. She doesn't take advice... Harry is a very, very charming person – no airs at all – but very much an enabler,” the source said.
