Staff from Meta, Anthropic, Google and OpenAI staff will reportedly meet with US President Donald Trump’s advisers today to discuss voluntary safety evaluation as concerns over rogue AI representatives are growing.

The primary motive behind this meeting follows revelations from OpenAI and Anthropic that their AI tools breached the systems of other companies. These breaches voiced concern among US lawmakers about whether growing capable AI models could be used to conduct cyberattacks.

For those unversed, OpenAI announced that an agentic AI powered by its advanced AI models had bypassed security and initiated a cyberattack that compromised the infrastructure of AI startup Hugging Face last week.

The company said that while testing its most advanced models in a regulated setting, the agent managed to escape containment, access the internet and break Hugging Face to accomplish its objective.

The White House meeting will focus on the US government's critical cyber capability assessments of the most advanced American AI models.

The Trump administration said earlier in June that it would request voluntary compliance from the AI developers to submit new models for government tests up to 30 days before they are released to the public.

Nonetheless, the Trump White House asserted that the testing details were finished before releasing them to the public, adding that officials are continuously monitoring the OpenAI hacking incident.
