Prince Harry jokingly corrected a TV host for calling football "soccer" during a post-World Cup show in the United States.

The Duke of Sussex recently appeared on After Hours with James Corden after Spain's World Cup final win over Argentina.

While talking about Prince Harry's childhood, the host James Corden asked if he played soccer at school.

"I always thought you went to a school that was too posh for soccer," Corden joked.

"Too posh to play football," Prince Harry replied. "Why are you calling it soccer?"

"Because we're in the United States, baby!" Corden answered.

Prince Harry said he did play football at school but admitted he was not among the best players.

"In prep school, I was in the first team. Then I went to a bigger school and ended up in the E team," he said.

The conversation later turned to England's World Cup semi-final defeat to Argentina.

Prince Harry said the team lost confidence after taking the lead and became too defensive.

"I think it was a mindset," he said. "You can't spend so much of the game trying to defend a 1-0 lead against a team like that."
