Prince William reacts to England footballer Kevin Keegan’s death

Prince William on Monday issued a statement expressing grief over the death of former England  footballer Kevin Keegan, who died at the age of 75.

News of the former England captain and manager’s death was announced by his former club Newcastle United.

The Prince of Wales said: "Incredibly saddened to hear of the passing of Kevin Keegan. A truly remarkable footballer and manager who inspired generations with his talent, passion and love of the game.

Above all, he will be remembered as a kind and generous man. Our thoughts are with his family and all who knew him. W.”

Keegan's family and Newcastle announced in January that the two-time European Footballer of the Year was undergoing cancer treatment, without disclosing details of his illness.
